Only a limited number of nonimmigrant classifications permit work activities in the United States without the U.S. employer filing a petition on behalf of the foreign worker. Examples of such classifications are the E-1, E-2, and E-3 nonimmigrant visas. These visas support the infusion of substantial capital into the U.S. economy and enable investors and traders to oversee their operations within the United States.
The EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program is designed to stimulate economic growth in the United States through foreign investments. It offers a method for eligible Immigrant Investors to become lawful permanent residents by investing at least $1,050,000 into a new commercial enterprise that will create a minimum of 10 full-time jobs for U.S. workers.
This amount can be reduced to $800,000 if the investment is made within a Targeted Employment Area (TEA), which is either a rural area or one experiencing high unemployment levels.
