Family Based Immigration

Family-based immigration allows a person to enter or live in the United States based on their relationship with a relative who is a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident (LPR). 

There are two types of family-based immigration: 

• Immediate Relatives of U.S. Citizens
• Family Preference Immigrants

For individuals who are offered a permanent job in the U.S. This category also includes Investors and individuals with exceptional abilities or advanced degrees.

Available to individuals from countries with historically low rates of immigration to the U.S. Approximately 50,000 visas are available each year through this program.
