These visas are for individuals planning to visit the United States for short periods for business (B-1); or tourism, vacation, or visiting family (B-2).

B-1 Visa (Business Visitor) 

• Purpose: Attend business meetings, consultations, conferences, or negotiate contracts.

• Duration of stay in the USA: Generally granted for the specific duration of the business need, usually up to 6 months.

B-2 Visa (Tourist Visitor)

• Purpose: Tourism, holiday, visiting friends or relatives, medical treatment.

• Duration of stay in the USA: Typically issued for up to 6 months; extensions may be possible.

Application Process: 

• DS-160 Form: Online visa application form.
• Interview: Required for most applicants at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
• Documentation: Proof of financial means, ties to home country (to ensure return), and itinerary.
   

When you are ready to apply, you must complete the DS-160 Form (Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application Form), to pay the visa application fee and to create your profile in the visa application system that serves the relevant U.S. Embassy or Consular section where you will apply.
